142 Percent LLC does not collect your personal information. Our apps have no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and we run no servers that receive your data.

NightChapter

On your device and in your iCloud. Your library, listening positions, sleep sessions and settings are stored on your device. If iCloud is on, they sync through your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.

Services you connect. If you sign in to Plex or add an Audiobookshelf server, the app talks directly to those services to play your books and, if you choose, to sync your progress. Sign-in tokens are kept in your device’s Keychain.

Book details. To find covers, descriptions and chapter lists, the app sends a book’s title and author to public catalogues: Apple’s iTunes Search, Open Library, MusicBrainz and the Internet Archive. Free LibriVox books are downloaded from the Internet Archive.

Speech and summaries. Moments are made by turning a few seconds of the book’s audio into text on your device. On iOS 26 and later this uses Apple’s speech recognition; on earlier versions it uses an open-source speech model (Zipformer, run with sherpa-onnx) that is built into the app, so nothing is downloaded. The audio never leaves your device. Summaries of that text are written on your device by Apple Intelligence where your device supports it. Only if you add your own OpenAI or Anthropic key are short pieces of that text, never the audio, sent to the provider you chose to write summaries. That provider handles the text under its own privacy policy.

Purchases. NightChapter Plus is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and we never see your payment details or Apple Account. To remember which two books get Plus features for free, the app keeps their IDs in your own iCloud.

Apple Watch. The watch app talks only to NightChapter on your paired iPhone.

Health. If you allow it, the app reads when you fell asleep from Apple Health to mark it on the timeline. It never writes to Health, and this data never leaves your device.

Children. Our apps are not directed at children under 13 and collect no information from anyone.
